The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL), is inviting Malaysian artists for The Tokyoiter Exhibition 2024.

The Tokyoiter Exhibition 2024 will celebrate Tokyo’s vibrancy and its residents’ stories.

Inspired by The New Yorker and The Parisianer, The Tokyoiter seeks illustrations reflecting Tokyo’s essence.

Malaysian artists above 18, residing in Malaysia, with Tokyo experience, are encouraged to submit Tokyoiter-style magazine covers reflecting Tokyo’s cultural richness. Entries should include a Tokyo or Japan photo for verification.

Five winners will be awarded RM1,000 and will be able to collaborate with JFKL for exhibition prints. The jury panel includes The Tokyoiter’s Andrew Joyce & David Robert, Kenta Chai from KentaWorks Graphic, and CC Kua, a Kuala Lumpur-based artist.

The submission deadline is December 3, 2023. Winners will be announced by December 22, 2023. The Tokyoiter Exhibition will be held from January 20 to February 4, 2024, at Temu House.

You can find submission details for The Tokyoiter Exhibition on JFKL’s website.
