‘Rumi in the Bathroom Call that Bath-Rumi ‘ explores the nuances of expressing with words, by Sameen Shakya, from Kathmandu, Nepal.
A stupid thought deserves expulsion, either
From the mouth, as a joke, or a poem, written
Or sung. I favor the latter, but both choices cause
Snide glances that shake up your whole damn being.
Yet we sing/write/joke nonetheless.
Poetry is the last refuge of the clown, who
Is tired of being laughed at. For in verse
There is escape from the obvious; a wealth of senses
Which confuses the average subscriber of existence
Who then learns to leave it the fuck alone.
Still some times some rhymes wrung free of meaning
Find themselves in the palms of Hoi polloi who
Post them on walls, real or technological, feigning
Wisdom, nodding along, though each understands
Little, which somehow is worse than mockery.
