‘Reliance’ is a poem by Arthur Neong, an ex-teacher who is an aspiring writer.
Words when crafted and arranged
into melodies and tunes
Sadness horrors can be changed
Into something that amuse
How do I write of what I see
when nowhere have I been
What do I write, but write of me?
when nothing have I seen
What do I need to fuel my words
To charge it with feelings
To make it one of worth
And to fill it with meaning
And hence I strive to be a thief
To shamelessly plunder
For me, nothing is beneath
To create wordly wonder
And what happens, as Emily said
When there’s a funeral in my brain
And then I have to slowly tread
and take something for the pain
So in the end, a poem is
Of everything and everything though
What matters is not me.
