My heart skipped,
My tongue swirled,
My palms sweat.
I danced with the tune of a lover,
To impress upon her;
I’m her true love.
I pursued her to the ends of the world,
To have her hands, till death do us part.
She noticed my gaze and gestures,
She spotted a clown in great haste.
Warily,
She kept her hands to herself.
Tenderly,
She gave a vow of friendship.
My heart shattered from unrequited love,
But I accepted her vow for all its worth.
For Time has taught me.
Of all the relationships,
The best is friendship.
