Your baby is kissing the back of her hand
Gentle and uncertain
It’s deep
In her head
It’s enough
No need to be looking back and forth
Exchanging glances between one another
Gazes linked by anticipation
Seeking silent permission
This is what she’s used to
Her lungs filled with her own scent
It’s unmistakable
The only one she knows
Will you keep her waiting for much longer?
She is kissing the back of her hand
Eager and uncertain
