Sitting down on the ground
Looking at the amber, red fire
Feeling both regret and accomplishment.
A week or two left,
Have you done enough?
Tossing the copper in the fire,
Ruined works, unfinished projects.
Keeping the gold safe and sound.
Successful works, best achievements.
Stare at the blazing fire,
Let the crackling tickle your ears.
Feel the fire,
Your burning passion and burning desire.
Don’t feed the fire too much,
It will only lead to burnout.
“Why was I getting worked up about this?”
Your fire dies.
Don’t feed the fire too little
It will only hurt you
“Why have I not achieved my goal?”
Your fire dies.
Sit back and summarise,
Keep the fire moderate,
Let it slowly cleanse.
Let the fire destroy and purify.
Burn and deterge.
Turn a new leaf.
The fire dies,
Will you do better this year?
