Is your heart made of stone?

Why are you hiding

behind the cloak of authority

giving briefings after briefings

not allowing open dialogues

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Is your heart made of stone?

Why don’t you come down

from your high and mighty place

to reach out and see for yourself

the sufferings on the ground

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Is your heart made of stone?

Why do you keep coming up

with policies that have failed

to contain the spread of the disease

causing untold misery and deaths

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Is your heart made of stone?

Why are you not concerned that

big foreign investors are fleeing,

industries and businesses are closing

causing loss of revenue and jobs

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Is your heart made of stone?

Why don’t you care that

your scheme of things

electing lieutenants not on merit

has resulted in poor governance

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Is your heart made of stone?

Why do you claim to have legitimacy

and yet, keep on thwarting

the motion to prove it

and sabotaging democratic rights

in the August House

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Does your heart not bleed

with people raising

…white flags out of desperation

…red flags out of helplessness

…black flags out of disgust

when you claim to care for

the beloved people of your country?

Truly, your heart is made of stone!
