I, the child, imagined a God,
Strong, mighty, gentle and kind,
Tales I heard, portraits I saw,
All of which drew forms in my mind,
Pray to Him, pray daily I heard,
So I did, ardently indeed,
Somedays I forget, guilt ridden, upset,
Now all grown, pray, what’s that?
A wisp so mild, deep inside,
Tells me what is right and wise,
When I’m wrong corrects my err,
Is this God? I ask myself,
If God is love,
beauty and truth,
I’ve seen this God,
Everyday through my heart,
Now I’m no child,
Not looking for God,
That search here ends,
For ‘That thou art’.
