Ode to sorrow,
of unspoken words.
Ode to love lost,
of unforeseen departure.
Ode to the memories,
of the loved ones left behind.
A period of bereavement,
for the heart to weep,
for the soul to comprehend,
the meaning of loss.
A definite certainty,
that is irreversible.
A period of acceptance,
of starting to speak in past tenses,
of seeing an empty chair at the dinner table,
of sitting next to a vacant seat in the living room,
of missing the inside jokes only both of you understood.
