I don’t need to be too in love with you
I only need sun-warmed knees, and
colliding trees in the rain
I only need the soft buzz of ember-lit days, and
the depth of a home well-lived
I only need the hearth
My own smile, wanting to spill out like
the rim of a cup-brimmed tea, poised
To take flight, to occupy all brightness
I need a lull, deep within me, enwrapping what
Has been hurt
I need a balm, a salve, a muddle of
days filled with belly laughters,
The soft grazing of the world
Touching my life
A kind of swaying in the wind
I don’t need to be too in love with you
I only need the world around me – in its entirety
In all its glory, 4-seasoned and beautiful
and sometimes incomprehensible –
To be here with me, finally
