Are you an emerging Malaysian artist looking for an opportunity to expand your horizons and showcase your talents in London?
If so, you might be interested in applying for the Khazanah-Acme Residency Award (KAAR), a 12-week programme that offers you a chance to research, build relationships and focus on producing new artworks in a supported environment in one of the world’s most vibrant art scenes.
KAAR is a collaboration between Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, and Acme Studios, London, a leading provider of affordable studio space and artist support.
The programme aims to support the development and production of art by Malaysian artists, and to foster cultural exchange and learning between Malaysia and the UK.
Since 2017, KAAR has supported 10 Malaysian artists to participate in the residency, where they have access to a secure, practical, work/live studio accommodation, and a programme of artist support and professional development.
The residency also allows them to network with other artists from around the world such as Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland, and to explore the diverse perspectives and ideas that Acme Studios offers.
By providing this opportunity, Khazanah and Acme Studios hope to contribute to the social and economic values of the communities they serve, and to advance Malaysia’s nation-building efforts through the preservation and promotion of history, culture, arts, and heritage.
The deadline for KAAR applications is Thursday, 29 February 2024. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The residency is scheduled to take place from 15 September to 8 December 2024.
