She enjoys
late breakfast whenever she’s up
a slice of bread with hot coffee
cooking slowly, taking her own sweet time
and late lunches
her movements are slow yet she doesn’t complain.
She enjoys
baking and frying banana fritters for tea
thinking her kids and grandkids enjoy them too
but they prefer yu chay koay and
cakes from the bakery
nevertheless, she continues making ‘em.
She enjoys
sewing on her old Singer machine
her old faded clothes, torn ones; simply loves them
putting thread into a needle is a struggle
yet she never gives up
although her eyesight is getting poor.
She enjoys
listening to her grandkids
giving them all that they want
not even scolding them for misbehaving
unlike when her kids were young
“No” means no.
She enjoys
being herself
relaxing and enjoying her life
reading the news, watching her favourite shows
not troubling anyone
having a good time of her own.
This is…
her kind of enjoyment.

Thank you Anuradha ! It reminds me my mother whom I lost last year all in a sudden and could do nothing for her during the lockdowns due to Covid 19 Pandemic. Thank you once again.
