The Godown is a young inner-city arts centre based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that aims to give everyone an opportunity to nourish their artistic aspirations through sharing, learning and practice, in an environment that inspires creativity.

Founded in 2019, The Godown connects creative individuals, organisations, and audiences from diverse backgrounds and disciplines through our arts programming and the activation of our performance and exhibition, seminar, workshop, and artist-in-residence spaces.

Through our collaborations with partners ranging from individual artists and groups to arts festival and event organisers, we have created occasions for synergetic interactions between artists, enabling fledgling and more experienced artists from different disciplines and media to work together, learn from, and inspire each other. Some notable events in the past two years include KL Art Book Fair 2021, Art In The City’s KLWKND, Urbanscapes 2019 and Andrew Pok’s What You Are The World Is.

We continue to support and promote the experience of art and the expansion of a culture of artistic expression and appreciation, starting from our own local grassroots and moving onwards and outwards from there.
