Tan Jin Yin is a Penang-born Soprano who has been involved in choral music since she was in elementary school. She holds Master of Arts degrees in both Vocal Performance and Music Pedagogy and Performance from Nanjing Normal University (NNU) China, and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) respectively. Additionally, she has followed workshops & masterclasses with renowned opera singers and pianists.
Jin Yin has performed as a soloist and as a member of choirs in China and Penang, participated in choral tours and competitions internationally, and has shared the stage with opera singers from Flanders Opera Studio, Belgium. She is a member of the Messengers and Penang Chamber Choir and has participated in several Sacred Music performances in George Town Festivals.
Her stage work includes performing in the Chinese musical, Liu Ru Shi with professors of Music Academy NNU in China, The Yellow River Cantata with Malacca Pay Fong Schools Alumni Association, the role of Sonia Glawari (The Merry Widow) with a Belgian stage director Benoît De Leersnyder in Thailand, and the role of Hoopoe in Johan Othman’s contemporary opera Conference of the Birds in Penang.
