Sumitra Selvaraj is a freelance PR consultant and media professional who lives in Malaysia. She is equally comfortable in front of, and behind the camera, and is interested in news and current affairs programmes. Sumitra was the Executive Producer of a television talk show which ran for over 850 episodes in Malaysia and Singapore. In 2019, she took on a 6-month contract as a producer and presenter with BFM Radio.
Sumitra began writing creative fiction in 2016. In that year, was runners-up at the 2016 DK Dutt Memorial Prize for Literary Excellence and won the 2018 Short Story Prize at the Asian Women
Writers Festival in Singapore. Her short stories have also appeared in various anthologies and collections. She was long listed for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2021 and her latest short
story appears in Tapestry of Colours 2, an anthology of Asian culture short stories published by Marshall Cavendish in Singapore. On Instagram, Sumitra is @sareesandstories, where she documents her daily drape.
