KongsiKL

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Arts Venue

Registered as Persatuan Seni Klang Lama, KongsiKL is a not-for-profit organization based in a 10,000sqft warehouse at Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.

Sitting side by side, Old Klang Road and the Klang River are major arteries of the city that contributed tremendously in Kuala Lumpur’s growth for close to two centuries. The warehouse that used to be a VOLVO workshop and later a stainless steel factory is an art space today – housing a loose coalition that expands and shrinks from time to time to run artistic and cultural activities like performance, exhibition, talk, jamming and workshop. KongsiKL is also an experiment – for the property owner who entrusted the space to the coalition, as well as for the group of artists, academics and designers who have a vision of sharing resources in running the space.

Since its establishment in 2017, KongsiKL’s programs have been rather site-relevant, experimental and multidisciplinary in response to its capacity and limitations. The space remains bare to retain its properties of being neutral, versatile and communal.

KongsiKL is a project supported by EXSIM Group,  KakiKongsi and many, many friends.
