Sydney has been involved professionally in music for the last 40 years as a Music Director, Arranger and Producer, working on National Projects (Sing Singapore, National Day Parades, May Day Parades), in the Theatre (Forbidden City-Portrait of an Empress, Beauty World, Twist of Fate), for Film (Singapore Dreaming, Wonder Boy), and Television (Annual Countdown Shows, Singapore Idol, Live the Dream). He has produced music over a wide span of genres; for local and regional pop artists (Dick Lee, Jacky Cheung, Jacintha, Tracy Huang, Kit Chan, William So, Ramli Sarip, Taufik Batisah, Gurmit Singh, and current generation artistes such as Charlie Lim, Fariz Jabba, Yung Raja, The Sam Willows, Charlie Lim, HubbaBubbas, Shigga Shay,), a cappella groups (Vocaluptuous, Micapella, Onesimus Principle, Dissonant Affair, Budak Pantai), percussion troupes (Tribal Tide, HeartBeat, Bloco Singapura, Singapore DrumFest), Bands (Electrico, Starfish) and for orchestra (Singapore Pop Orchestra – founding Music Director). These projects over the years have seen collaborations with Directors on the stage (like Steven Dexter, Dick Lee, Ivan Heng) and in film and video (Boo Jun Feng, Royston Tan, Brian Gothong, Colin Goh/Woo Yen Yen, and Woffles Wu).

While comfortable in various genres, Sydney’s distinctive trademark is of sensitive, lush harmonies and textures with high energy groove and rhythms in his productions with a specific expertise in vocal arrangement and production resulting in music that can be powerfully epic or sensitively intimate as the occasion calls for. In working on these projects over the last 4 decades, Sydney has been intimately involved in the overall development of narratives, watching over the focus/coherence of projects,
curating of artistes/material and ensuring inter-departmental synergies. He believes in the creating of an emotional and cognitive resonance with the audience through the power of music and the arts.
