Drawing on personal experiences and memories, Malaysia-born Alya Hatta uses the dynamism of colour, form, sound and space to explore the realm of both digital and physical art space. Her works often represents her Southeast Asian identity but also portrays the colourful intimacies of the diasporic human condition. Hatta is an interdisciplinary artist based between London and Kuala Lumpur. She obtained her BA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London before pursuing the MA Painting Course at Royal College of Art.
Hatta has exhibited internationally in London, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Milan and Sydney amongst others and recently had her fourth solo show in London, August 2022. She is also a member of the ‘Unamed’ and ‘FloorFive’ collective; the latter now engaged in a year-long residency at Goldsmiths CCA.
