Eksentrika Is An Arts Community & An Asian Arts Magazine With An Artist Registry

Eksentrika is an arts & culture community and Asian arts magazine with an Artist Registry to get inspired, find and collaborate with artists based in Malaysia and Asia. Our readers can also discover events, and submit their short stories and poems too!

It was founded in 2016 by two Malaysian journalists, Ista Kyra and her husband Sukhbir Cheema following the closure of the Malaysian Insider.

Eksentrika’s mission is to support and nurture the creative arts ecosystem in Malaysia and Asia.

Here’s what our collaborators have to say about Eksentrika.

“Eksentrika displayed excellent initiative and quality service in its effort to highlight our festival. By piecing together a comprehensive listicle based on our festival line-up, this humble digital platform created meaningful content which we were proud to share on our platform. The Eksentrika team were also delightful to interact with throughout our engagement period.” – Deric Ee Festival Manager, Georgetown Literary Festival (GTLF)

“It is truly a pleasure working with Sukhbir and Ista. They play an essential role in our project of a cultural nature, acting as valuable consultants on the broad topic of Malaysian society, both past and present. They are extremely knowledgeable and communicative. They complete many tasks, whether it involves researching, validating or translating, and produce comprehensive and digestible packages for us as a result.  It is easy to touch base and to book meetings with them, despite our 12-hour time difference! Our entire team is very much looking forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with them.” – Sara Waitzer, Exhibit Developer at GSM Project, Montréal, Canada.

“Eksentrika was one of the earliest online partner in promoting our arts and cultural project at Putrajaya in 2020. It was one of our most engaging campaign online thus far. We look forward to many more collaborations with Eksentrika!” – Alexdrina Chong, Project Director of Project KITA.
